Work quality assurance program when laying cable lines
Work quality assurance program when laying cable lines

Cable lines are an important element of infrastructure, and due to their safety and low failure rate are becoming more and more popular. When laying them, however, it is necessary to adapt to raw quality standards. In this article we will discuss the importance of quality control in this context and the most important aspects of this process.

Work quality assurance program

The contractor's duties of the construction project include the development of a quality assurance program. It is the foundation to ensure that the work will be carried out in accordance with the design documentation, technical standards and project manager guidelines. The quality assurance program is an action plan that takes into account various aspects of project implementation. Below are the main elements that should be included in this program:

  • Organization of works: The program should contain a description of the organization of work, including setting dates and planning activities. It is also crucial to present the method of conducting works, including personnel and resource management.
  • Organization of traffic at the construction site: The program must take into account the traffic organization plan at the construction site and marking of works. The safety of employees and third parties is a priority.
  • Occupational health and safety (OHS): The program must contain OHS funds and procedures to ensure the safety of all employees at the construction site, which is why solutions such as a cable tent are used, among others.
  • List of working teams: This point should include information about employee teams, their qualifications and practical preparation.
  • Responsibility for quality and timeliness: The program should precisely specify persons responsible for the quality and timeliness of the works performed.
  • Quality control: The program must describe the quality control system and procedures that will be used during the project implementation. Quality control covers both technical and organizational aspects.
  • Equipment and equipment for measurement and control: The program must contain information on equipment with equipment and equipment for measurement and control. If the contractor uses the laboratory, his activities should be described.
  • Collecting the results of laboratory tests: The program must specify the method and form of collecting laboratory test results as well as measurements and applications resulting from them.
  • Providing information to the Project Manager: The program should contain a plan regarding the provision of information on the quality and progress of work to the project manager.

It is also necessary to develop a detailed part of the quality assurance program, which should include such information as:

  • List of machines and devices: For each type of work, a list of machines and devices used at the construction site should be specified, along with their technical parameters. This guarantees that the tools used meet the appropriate standards, we are talking here not only about large machines, but also tools such as wire stockings.
  • Means of transport and storage: The program must take into account the types and amount of means of transport and devices for storage and loading of materials.
  • Measurement and control of materials: describes the method and procedures for measurement and tests during materials supply, mixing, and the performance of individual elements of works.
  • Action with materials that do not confirm the requirements: the program must contain a plan for materials or works that do not meet specific quality standards.

The quality assurance program is a key tool for quality and safety management. A correctly developed and implemented program helps prevent problems and failures, guaranteeing the quality of work performed and the safety of employees and people nearby.

What does the quality of works look like?

The contractor is borne by all costs related to the organization and conduct of material research. This means that it is responsible for him to ensure that all works meet the set standards and are in line with the project documentation. When building overhead lines, it is necessary to use equipment such as inspection prams, but when laying cable lines you also need to follow specific rules.

The minimum requirements for the scope of research and their frequency are precisely specified in documents, such as technical specifications (ST), standards and guidelines. In the absence of specific guidelines, this task rests with the project manager, which determines what controls are necessary to ensure the quality of work according to the contract. All devices and equipment used for material research must comply with applicable regulations. The contractor is responsible for providing legalization certificates and regular calibration of devices to ensure their accuracy and compliance with standards.

Quality control is a key element of any construction project. Ensuring that work is carried out in accordance with high standards is not only an ethical commitment, but also a guarantee of the success of the design and safety of all its participants. That is why it is important that the contractor and project manager cooperate in the pursuit of the highest quality of construction works.
